Palm
Beach, Fla, November 12, 2006 – Smoke Free Society is
offering its “Proven Stop Smoking Technique” as
a free online download in celebration of the annual Great
American Smokeout this November 16th. The Great American Smokeout
encourages smokers to quit for one day, in the hope that they
will quit for good. Millions of smokers are expected to quit
for the day; many are likely to quit permanently, especially
if they use modern cessation methods. This is a big day to
get involved and encourage loved ones to give up smoking and
encourage children to stay away from smoking and using tobacco.
Around the country, volunteers support quitters, publicize
the event and bring national attention to the hazards of smoking
and benefits of quitting. |

| Smoking
is responsible for at least 30% of all cancer deaths and is a major
cause of cancers of the lungs, voice box, oral cavity, throat, esophagus,
and bladder, and contributes to the development of cancers of the
pancreas, cervix, kidney, stomach, and also some leukemias. Nearly
90% of lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking which is the leading
cause of cancer death among both men and women, and is one of the
most difficult cancers to treat.
“Cancer is
a dreadful disease. We regularly receive letters from individuals
telling tragic stories of how they lost their loved ones to smoking.
Don’t let your loved one become a statistic. Please get involved
now to help them quit smoking – before it’s too late.
You must do all you can to help them enjoy longer, healthier lives,”
said Rez Seyedin, founder of Smoke Free Society.
The good news is
that smoking bans in public, workplaces and restaurants, have already
improved many individuals’ health. Those states with strong
tobacco and smoking control laws are now starting to reap the benefits
of their labor in lower user and lower smoking-related illness rates
while saving taxpayers’ money. In the 18 months after a no-smoking
ordinance took effect in Pueblo, Colorado in 2003, hospital admissions
for heart attacks for city residents dropped 27% and is most likely
due to a decrease in the effect of secondhand smoke as a triggering
factor for heart attacks. This further encourages other states and
localities to do the same. Other measures such as raising taxes
on cigarettes, limiting advertising, discouraging teen cigarette
smoking/tobacco use and awareness campaigns are also working.
Furthermore, smoking
is a very costly habit and addiction. An average smoker spends more
than $1,500 a year on their cigarettes alone, and that doesn't include
all other related costs. A Duke University study puts the true cost
of lifetime smoking at $40 a pack. Tragically, one out of four Americans
smoke. That means in a family of four, either the father or mother,
or both, are smokers endangering their lives as well as their two
children’s lives while depleting their hard-earned money –
money that could be used to provide food, education, healthcare
and well being for their family.
This important day,
the Great American Smokeout, encourage and help your loved ones
quit smoking for good by downloading the free “Proven Stop
Smoking Technique” available at www.SmokeFreeSociety.org
or by using its other effective quit-smoking plans, services and
free eCards offered. Smoke Free Society is a national, nonprofit
organization dedicated to helping smokers quit and educating kids
not to start. Its "Proven Stop Smoking Technique" helps
smokers quit smoking in just 17 days without use of any substance
or drug. It also helps smokers understand the hazardous effects
their smoking has on their loved ones’ lives.
