Robin
Grunwell, 1968-2006, Robin was an amazing woman who
was much loved by her family and friends. After high school
she served in the U.S. Air Force and went on to work as an office
manager and in human resources after leaving the military. Robin
never married or had children so she dedicated her time and
energy to serving her community and helping the needy. She was
the former president of the Daytona Beach Jaycees and later
the Orlando Jaycees. She also held various other leadership
roles on the state board of the Florida Jaycees (the Junior
Chamber of Commerce). In 2005, she was awarded the prestigious
title of Senator by the Florida Jaycees for her many years of
community service and sacrifices in behalf of the organization.
Robin
could best be described as bold, opinionated, funny, loud and
strong willed. She was always the life of the party but she also
had a softer side that revealed how much she cared about people.
Robin organized many community service projects and helped raise
thousands of dollars each year for charity. Her example inspired
other Jaycee members to volunteer their time and resources generously
as well.
Robin
smoked from age 17 until age 27. She hadn't smoked for
ten years before developing lung cancer in 2005. Her treatment
seemed to neutralize the cancer but it just came back stronger
a few months later. Robin fought bravely until the very end. She
was a great friend, leader and humanitarian and those who knew
her can't wait to see her again in heaven.
